What's new? - Sept. 27, 2005
Minutes:
The NAFA Board of Directors met on July 30
in Detroit to discuss rule changes, the new Signature Gear lights, Breed
Specific Legislations and several other business related issues. The
abridged minutes of the meeting are now available
here
and and under the Board Meeting Minutes tab.
Teleconference minutes from the August 17 teleconference are
not yet finalized. That meeting featured the development of the Futurity
class which led to the Futurity class rules
published earlier. Minutes will be available shortly.
A Board Teleconference was held on
September 7 to formulate the rules for the Veterans Class, a new class for
dogs 8 years and older. It features no false starts, limits on the
amount of racing per day and racing the minimum jump height. Minutes and
rule preview are
available here.
Reserved Weekend Rule Notice:
The Reserved Weekend rules will come into
effect on Oct. 1, 2005. Clubs with a history of hosting events on the
same weekend will be given priority on securing those dates in FY 2006 and
beyond. Please familiarize yourself with
the rules for establishing your
club's reserved weekend(s). Clubs will be allowed only two reserve
weekends per year.
Weekends will be numbered from
the start of the fiscal year i.e., October 1. A list of weekends past and future is
available to to allow hosting
clubs to review their history. We understand that there may be variances
as 2004 and 2005 caused the weeks to jump around somewhat. To help us
understand what you need, Karen Oleson, NAFA's Sanctioning guru, has developed
a working form
for you to complete and submit to her. Please complete the form and
email it to
her at your earliest convenience to protect your event's priority.
Want to Change Regions?
Some clubs find it difficult to compete
for Regional Championships in the regions that
they are assigned geographically due to the size and distance involved in the
region. If your club would like to change your assigned region for the
FY2006 racing year which begins on Oct. 1, 2005, please send an email from
your club's captain/owner indicating in which region that the club would like
to race. The changes must be received by midnight on Sept. 30, 2005 to
be accepted. Clubs that have opted out for different regions will be
announced here next week in advance of any changes to the database.
Please note that tournaments hosted by a club that has
selected a different region for competition do not move to the new region with
the club but remain in the original geographical region.
Miscellaneous:
Tournament listings for FY2005 and FY2006 have been added at
left as requested.
Several inquiries have been made as to which
racing year do the tournaments on Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, 2005 apply. Events
sanctioned as Friday&Saturday apply to FY2005. Events
scheduled for Saturday, Sunday or Saturday&Sunday apply to FY2006. Clubs
could count two events this weekend towards Regional Championships, i.e., one
in each year depending on the scheduling of the event.
